Toys of Christmas Past - Part 2 - Battling Tops

Today's entry is "Battling Tops" made by Ideal with an original release date of 1967.

This is a rather fun game for up to 4 players.  Object be the last top standing.  You wind a string around the the top, put it in the launch area and pull your string.  The tops spin and knock against each other [Battle], and the last top standing is the winner for that round.  Win 10 rounds and you win the game.

This came with stickers to "customize" the tops as seen below.  This actually is a fun game.  In some cases during a battle, because they contained so much angular momentum from spinning, when they hit each other they could be launch across a rather large room.  The 1967 version was much better than the version that came out in the 90's and later.  I have an original 1967 version of this game.

Be honest IDEAL, was the really the "Bout of the Century" ?

Customize your top with name stickers.  I always wanted "Smarty Smitty"
